Job summary

Fortune Fish & Gourmet is seeking a Sanitation Associate to uphold the highest cleanliness standards in our facilities and equipment. You will collaborate with operations to implement effective sanitation solutions and maintain product quality.

Responsibilities include cleaning floors, equipment washdowns, chemical handling, and adhering to SSOPs, GMP, HACCP, and safety guidelines while supporting a fast-paced seafood processing environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of janitorial or sanitation experience, preferably in food processing.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• English verbal communication skills.
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Facility cleaning: Clean floors, walls, and drains; maintain organized workspace.
• Equipment washdown: Disassemble, scrub, and sanitize machinery, tables, and belts per SSOPs.
• Chemical handling: Safely dilute and apply heavy-duty cleaners and sanitizers.
• Support operations to maintain clean environment and product quality.
• Monitor and report contamination issues to the supervisor immediately.
• Sign off on sanitation logs; ensure GMP, HACCP, and local health compliance.
• Keep supply closet orderly and clean.
• Report hazards or pests to supervisors promptly.
• Establish good working relations with Fortune employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

This objective is accomplished through effective collaboration with operations personnel to develop and implement appropriate sanitation solutions for the organization.

This objective is accomplished through effective collaboration with operations personnel to develop and implement appropriate sanitation solutions for the organization.

Description
Facility Cleaning: Clean floors, walls, and drains. Remove waste, sort recycling, and maintain a highly organized workspace.
Equipment Washdown: Disassemble, scrub, and sanitize complex seafood processing machinery, tables, and conveyor belts according to established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
Chemical Handling: Safely dilute and apply heavy-duty cleaning chemicals and sanitizers, ensuring appropriate ratios and adherence to safety guidelines
Works closely with operations to ensure a clean environment and quality product.
Follows company policies to ensure food safety and quality. Works to maintain and improve the sanitation process at Fortune.
Monitor and report any potential contamination issues to the Supervisor immediately.
Compliance & Documentation: Sign off on sanitation logs and ensure the facility meets Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and local health regulatory requirements
Keeps the supply closet room orderly and clean.
Hazard Reporting: Immediately alert supervisors or Quality Control to any potential contamination, pest issues, or safety hazards.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all Fortune employees.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements
Experience: 1 plus years of experience in janitorial work or sanitation, preferably within a food processing, meat, or seafood environment.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Work Ethic: Demonstrated desire to work in an exciting and fast-paced environment. Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
Physical Demands: Must be able to work on your feet for extended periods, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds. Comfort working in wet, cold, or freezing environments is required
Communications: English verbal communication skills.
Schedule: Adhere to the assigned work schedule. First shift hours: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Second shift hours typically run from early to late afternoon (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM or 12:00 PM start times). First and second shifts may include weekend or rotating shifts. Third shift hours are 8:00 PM to 4:30 AM.
