HCA Florida Highlands Hospital in Sebring, FL is seeking a Sanitation Assistant PRN to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment. You will handle waste, linens, and room turnover while following strict safety and sanitation protocols.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or equivalent and healthcare housekeeping experience; DOT/Hazmat training is a plus. This role supports patient care areas and interacts with staff, patients, and visitors daily.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred
• Healthcare setting experience preferred
• At least 1 year of professional housekeeping/janitorial experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Follow policies for storage, handling and disposal of RMW, RCRA/Hazmat, solid waste and universal waste.
• Maintain DOT and Hazardous Waste training.
• Clean waste holding and storage areas regularly.
• Deliver clean linen to appropriate locations and remove soiled linens as needed.
• Prepare rooms before and after patient discharge.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation requirements of a healthcare facility.
• Utilize supplies to maintain a clean environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
• Store, handle, and dispose of materials per hospital/industry standards (Hazmat, waste, linens).
• Interact with patients, families, visitors, and hospital staff while performing duties.

Job Summary And Qualifications

What you will do:

• You will be familiar with and adhere to policies related to storage, handling, and disposal of RMW (regulated medical waste), RCRA/Hazmat, solid waste, and universal waste.
• You will maintain your Department of Transportation (DOT) and Hazardous Waste training.
• You will clean waste holding and storage areas regularly.
• You will deliver clean linen to appropriate locations and remove soiled linens as needed.
• You will also help with the cleaning and preparing rooms before and after patients are discharged from the hospital.
• You will be familiar with safety and sanitation requirements of a healthcare facility.
• You will appropriately utilize various supplies and resources to maintain a clean environment for all staff, patients, and visitors within the hospital.
• You will store, handle, and dispose of materials and supplies used to perform your duties within the hospital and industry standards. This could include Hazmat, solid waste, and soiled linens.
• You will be interacting with patients, families, visitors, and other hospital staff as you perform your duties.

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred
• Experience in a healthcare setting highly preferred
• At least 1 year of professional housekeeping or janitor experience preferred
