Thrive Freeze Dry in American Fork, Utah is seeking a Sanitation Janitor Team Member to maintain cleanliness of production rooms, warehouse, and office areas in a food manufacturing environment. Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 months experience in a related field or manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Ability to perform physical and mental work requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize production rooms.
  • Perform daily janitorial tasks including restrooms, breakrooms, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal.
  • Stock and maintain supply rooms.
  • Follow SOPs and pass cleaning tests.
  • Adhere to SQF/HACCP/PCQI guidelines and use cleaning chemicals properly.

Job Title:Sanitation Janitor Team Member

Department:Operations

Reports to:Sanitation Manager

Location: American Fork, Utah

Shift: Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 12pm-10:30pm, and Saturday: 9am-7:30pm

Job Summary: The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of production rooms, warehouse, and office areas in a food manufacturing environment. This includes adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and meeting the stringent cleaning requirements set forth by the Quality Assurance and Sanitation Departments, as well as third‑party inspections. Work under the direction of the Team Lead and Supervisor to ensure all cleaning tasks are performed to regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Clean and sanitize production rooms.
  • Perform daily janitorial tasks, such as restrooms, breakrooms, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and trash removal.
  • Stock and maintain supply rooms.
  • Follow standard work instructions with a positive attitude and a collaborative mindset.
  • Follow specific SOPs to complete room and equipment cleaning.
  • Pass cleaning tests and fulfill all cleaning requirements mandated by the Quality Assurance Department, Sanitation Department, and third‑party inspections.
  • Utilize knowledge and experience with chemicals used for cleaning food equipment, ensuring proper usage and adherence to instructions.
  • Mix and dilute chemicals accurately to the intended mixing ratio, using a titration kit to test chemical strength.
  • Work in accordance with SQF (Safe Quality Food), PCQI, or HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) rules and regulations.
  • Perform and document routine inspection and sanitation activities.
  • Communicate with management of deficiencies, equipment issues, or needs for repairs.
  • Must maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • Comply with the Environmental Health Safety & Security (EHS&S) policies and applicable regulatory and company EHS&S rules and requirements.
  • Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact on the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
  • Attend scheduled EHS&S training program.
  • Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EHS&S goals and plans.
  • Recommend improved EHS&S practices.
  • Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
  • Adheres to and ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.

PRODUCT SAFETY AND QUALITY

  • Place high priority on food safety, quality, and sanitation by understanding and executing Thrive Freeze Dry’s food safety, quality, and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Hold self and others accountable to Thrive Freeze Dry food safety, quality, & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety or quality incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
  • Adheres to and ensures Product Safety and Quality standards are followed.
  • Adheres to and ensures GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee.
  • Adheres to and ensures Thrives food safety, product defense standards and quality objectives complies with all SQF system requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (include education, experience, special skills, licenses and/or certifications required.)

  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-workers and departments, including the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to perform physical and mental work requirements of position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Must be able to perform the following functions with or without accommodations:

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity.
  • 10% or more sitting, 90% or more standing and walking.
  • The job is performed under occasional temperature variations and in a food manufacturing production environment. Employees may be exposed to humidity, cleaning chemicals, and production noise.
  • Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees.
  • The ability to lift to 50 lbs. is required.
