Thrive Freeze Dry in American Fork, UT is seeking an Environmental Health Safety and Security (EHSS) Supervisor to lead site‑level EHSS programs and ensure safe, compliant food manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an EHSS-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional safety certifications (CSP, ASP, CIH, OSHM, or equivalent) preferred.
  • OSHA 30‑Hour certification, preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of EHSS experience in manufacturing, including leading programs and measurable improvements.
  • Experience communicating with regulatory agencies and third‑party auditors.
  • Experience supervising hourly employees.

Job Title: Environmental Health Safety and Security (EHSS) Supervisor

Department: Safety

Reports to: EHSS Sr Manager

Location: American Fork, UT

The EHSS Supervisor is responsible for leading, implementing and continuously improving corporate environmental, health, safety and security initiatives at the site-level to support safe, reliable and compliant food manufacturing operations. This role collaborates with all levels of staff to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, as well as company policies and site procedures. You will integrate the EHSS principles into daily production activities, partner closely with operations and support functions, and drive a proactive safety culture.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of EHSS programs, policies and procedures in a production environment
  • Ensure facility compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations, and company standards
  • Partner with all levels of staff to lead and support EHSS efforts and integrate EHSS principles into daily activities and decision‑making
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, daily floor engagement, reinforcement of safe behaviors and best practices, and recommendations for improvements
  • Work with our Learning and Development team to develop, deliver and/ or coordinate required EHSS training
  • Coach managers and supervisors on EHSS leadership principles, regulatory requirements, and best practices
  • Oversee an effective Safety Committee
  • Mitigate and/ or prevent organizational risks through inspections, audits, hazard identification and corrective actions
  • Lead and support all incident investigations through the use of EHSS systems to ensure proper analysis, corrective actions, documentation, and reporting
  • Coordinate post‑accident care and communication to assure effective workers’ compensation case management
  • Support Human Resources with ADA/ return‑to‑work management
  • Oversee site security operations, through the use of technology and/ or human resources, to ensure physical security measures are effective and properly maintained
  • Maintain and analyze EHSS data to identify trends and hazard identification
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation per company and regulatory requirements
  • Comply with all Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements and Products Safety and Defense standards
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in an EHSS related field, preferred, or equivalent experience and training
  • Professional safety certifications (i.e. CSP, ASP, CIH, OSHM, or equivalent), preferred
  • OSHA 30‑Hour certification, preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of EHSS experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, including experience leading EHSS programs and demonstrating measurable improvement
  • Experience communicating with regulatory agencies and third‑party auditors
  • Experience supervising hourly employees
Skills And Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local government regulations, including OSHA, EPA and PSM/ RMP
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; able to engage employees of all levels respectfully and effectively
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain healthy relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and governing agencies
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; capable of identifying risks and driving effective solutions
  • Ability to train, coach and influence employees in classroom and production‑floor settings
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to evolving needs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must be able to flex work hours as needed for business needs and occasional travel may be required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks over an 8‑hour period; generally, 40% sitting, 40% walking and 20% standing
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/ or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/ or crawling, and frequent fine finger dexterity
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequent temperature variations and extremes in a food manufacturing production environment
  • Unrestricted visual and auditory abilities for employee and facility safety
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and GMP required equipment as required and provided by Thrive Freeze Dry
Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a food manufacturing and warehouse environment with regular exposure to production equipment, powered industrial equipment, varying/ extreme temperatures, noise and other typical industrial conditions.
