The Sanitarian is a vital contributor to our operational success. You will join a dedicated team responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all infrastructure, equipment, and utensils to uphold our strict food safety standards and regulatory compliance. We place the highest value on both food quality and the safety of our personnel.
Schedule and Expectations
Standard shifts run Monday through Friday, starting at 12:30 PM and concluding once daily tasks are finished, typically around 7:30 PM. The Plant Manager or Food Safety Coordinator may assign additional tasks as needed, sometimes with short notice. Occasionally, you may be asked to start your shift at 5:30 AM to assist with pre-operational inspections and ensure all standards are met before production begins.
Core Responsibilities
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of how to properly utilize various chemical agents.
- Help maintain a hygienic environment by sanitizing all food-contact surfaces, processing zones, and facility infrastructure.
- Adhere to all established cleaning schedules, SSOPs, and sanitation protocols to ensure operational excellence.
- Safely manage sanitation equipment, including foaming machines and high-pressure water hoses.
- Apply mechanical action and appropriate cleaning chemicals in alignment with safety guidelines to ensure a pristine workspace.
- Inspect areas to verify cleanliness, helping to maintain high standards by identifying and reporting any necessary improvements.
- Support the prevention of cross-contamination by strictly maintaining separation between raw and ready-to-eat product areas.
- Uphold all company sanitation requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.
- Promptly notify the Food Safety Coordinator or Plant Manager of any issues impacting product quality, safety, or compliance.
- Utilize all required PPE to foster a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Complete additional sanitation-related tasks as requested by the Food Safety Coordinator or Plant Manager.
- Collaborate effectively with leadership to ensure the entire facility remains in a sanitary state.
Sanitation Records and Documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely logs, checklists, and sanitation records.
- Document all cleaning activities, inspections, and corrective actions as required by our internal procedures.
- Record chemical usage and concentration checks whenever mandated by protocol.
- Report any inaccuracies or missing documentation to the Food Safety Coordinator or Plant Manager immediately.
- Ensure all records are kept in full compliance with food safety regulations and company standards.
Pre-Operational Inspections
- Engage in pre-operational inspections whenever scheduled.
- Evaluate assigned zones and equipment to ensure they meet our cleanliness standards.
- Identify and resolve sanitation issues to help ensure a smooth start to the daily production shift.
- Partner with management to address any deficiencies and confirm that corrective actions are successfully completed.
Required Job Qualifications
In this role, you will be expected to:
- Work in diverse environments ranging from 32 to 100 degrees F, including wet, humid, and slippery conditions at various heights.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret and execute cleaning procedures while operating specialized high-pressure equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols regarding the handling of detergents and sanitizing chemicals.
- Maintain physical stamina to perform tasks while standing, including bending, lifting, climbing, and repetitive motions.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds as part of your daily routine.
- Show meticulous attention to detail to ensure all sanitation duties are completed to standard.
- Work effectively both as an individual contributor and as a collaborative member of the production team.
- Be available for weekend work and overtime as business needs dictate.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
You are required to wear all necessary PPE, which may include goggles, gloves, aprons, hair nets, and closed-toe shoes. Please note that jewelry, fake nails, and nail polish are prohibited within the facility.
Additional Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
- Must adhere to all GMPs, food safety, and sanitation requirements.
- Must successfully complete all required safety and sanitation training programs.
- Must be reliable and capable of following established instructions and procedures.
Physical and Working Conditions
This position involves significant physical exertion in a facility that is often wet, humid, and slippery. You will be exposed to cleaning chemicals and temperatures between 32 and 100 degrees F.
