Job summary

Mission Health in Asheville, NC is seeking a SATU Registered Nurse to provide specialized, trauma-informed care to sexual assault and abuse patients. The RN will conduct forensic exams, evidence collection, and detailed documentation while collaborating with physicians, advocacy professionals, and law enforcement.

Responsibilities include triage, patient assessment, crisis intervention, and coordination of follow-up care.

Qualifications

• Current NC RN license required.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS and/or PALS preferred.
• SANE certification strongly preferred.
• Experience with trauma-informed and forensic nursing practices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed nursing care to sexual assault and abuse patients.
• Perform forensic medical examinations and evidence collection.
• Document findings thoroughly in medical and legal records.
• Maintain strict chain-of-custody for forensic evidence.
• Coordinate care with physicians, advocates, and law enforcement.
• Conduct triage, assessment, and ongoing patient monitoring.
• Deliver crisis intervention and patient/family education.
• Advocate for patient rights, privacy, and dignity.
• Participate in ongoing training, quality improvement, and protocol development.
• Follow all regulatory, safety, and infection control standards.
