About the role

The Sandwich Artist greets and serves guests, prepares products, maintains food safety and sanitation standards, and handles or processes light paperwork. Exceptional customer service is a major component of this position. Assist in the process as needed.

What you'll do

  • Maintains a safe and sanitary environment in the frontline area, prep area and food storage areas. *
  • Records temperatures on the daily logs. *
  • Performs the following cleaning tasks. *

· General cleaning in the kitchen, dining, and tray assembly areas

· Cleaning of the refrigerator and stove area

· Sweeping and mopping of the floors after each meal period

· Washing of dishes, utensils, and other equipment

· Removal of trash and cleaning of trash containers

· Cleaning of walls and vents as needed

4. Reports any maintenance problem to management. *

5. Exhibits a cheerful and helpful manner while greeting guests and preparing their orders. *

6. Demonstrates a complete understanding of menu items and explains them to guests accurately. *

7. Uses Point of Sale system/cash register to record the order and compute the amount of the bill. Collects payment from guests and makes change. *

8. Performs Cash-In Procedure- accounting for all forms of money, bread, etc., during the shift. *

9. Prepares food neatly, according to formula, and in a timely manner. *

10. Checks products in sandwich unit area and restocks items to ensure a sufficient supply throughout the shift.

11. Understands and adheres to proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards during food preparation, service and clean up. *

12. Cleans and maintains all areas of the restaurant to promote a clean image. * Understands and adheres to the 3-step method for cleaning.

13. Understands and adheres to all quality standards, formulas and procedures as outlined in the SUBWAY Operations Manual . *

14. Maintains a professional appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the SUBWAY Operations Manual .*

15. Performs light paperwork duties as assigned. *

16. Completes University of SUBWAY courses as directed. *

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Previous food service industry and/or Quick Serve Restaurant (QSR) experience preferred.

Specialized Training and Other Requirements:

Must successfully complete and pass University of Subway courses within two weeks of hire and must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if the contract or work location requires. It is preferred or strongly encouraged that ServSafe training is completed.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing in English. Must be able to compare similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Must be able to perform the four basic arithmetic operations. Must be able to comprehend and utilize instructions as given.

Math Ability: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required. Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
