Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in San Leandro, CA is seeking a Sandblaster to follow safety procedures and clean metal castings in accordance with quality standards, ensuring paperwork, tooling and parts are correctly matched.

You will perform visual and dimensional inspections, adjust equipment, load blast materials, and maintain safe, efficient operation while meeting production and quality targets. This full-time, on-site position includes benefits and eligibility for the company's quarterly bonus

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, read, follow and interpret instructions on technique cards, code sheets as well as other verbal or written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to use simple to moderately complex measuring devices and fixtures.
• Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of castings per part grade levels using micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
• Adjusts equipment to obtain optimum running condition.
• Inspect own parts for surface distortion and imperfections such as flow lines, cracks, breaks, sinks, excess flash, non-fill and porosity.
• Load blast material of proper size and type in all machines.
• May load, tend and use caustic and/or acid dip after proper training for cleaning.
• Maintain equipment in a safe manner and ensure compliance with safety rules.
