Job summary

Bridge Brothers is seeking a Sandblaster / Abrasive Blaster to prepare structural steel bridge components for protective coatings. This full-time role is based in Pickens, SC, with competitive pay and opportunities for overtime.

You will operate blasting equipment, inspect surfaces, and ensure compliance with safety and project specs in a manufacturing setting. Experience with abrasive blasting and steel fabrication is preferred; forklift or crane experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience with abrasive blasting, sandblasting, or industrial surface preparation preferred.
• Experience in structural steel, fabrication, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to work safely in a team‑oriented manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of SSPC surface preparation standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform abrasive blasting on structural steel using approved blasting equipment
• Prepare steel surfaces for painting and protective coatings
• Remove rust, mill scale, old coatings, weld spatter, and surface contaminants
• Inspect blasted surfaces for proper cleanliness and surface profile
• Operate and maintain blasting equipment
• Move materials throughout the shop using overhead cranes or forklifts when needed
• Follow project specifications and quality standards
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow all PPE and respiratory safety requirements
