Job summary

Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking a Sand Plant Operator 1 or 2 to operate underground backfill plants and manage slurry systems at East Boulder Mine, EB. The role requires attention to safety, data recording, and routine maintenance, with rotation schedules and on-site duties.

Candidates should have equipment maintenance experience, strong communication, and the ability to monitor silos and sand plant processes. Compliance with health and environmental regulations is essential.

Qualifications

• Underground backfill plant operations experience.
• Knowledge of piping and valve installation/maintenance.
• Monitor slurry silo filling and sand plant operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Perform backfill audits and data recording.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Authorized to handle explosives per the Safe Explosives Act.
• Must meet the Task Matrix for Sand Plant Operator 1 or 2 and physical requirements.
• Commitment to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Operates underground backfill plants.
• Operates high- pressure slurry pumping systems.
• Monitors the slurry silo filling. Coordinates intake and output from silos.
• Monitors the slurry intake and output to the Geho back fill pumps at the sand plants as required.
• Draw density samples and record pertinent data related to back fill operations.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot breakdowns.
• Maintain operational records on a shift-by-shift basis.
• Perform other duties as assigned from time to time at the discretion of the company.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Stationary equipment operations and maintenance background.
• Piping and valve installation/maintenance.
• Monitor slurry silo filling and maintain both sand plants.
• Monitor and maintain sand pours.
• Communication skills-written and verbal.
• Perform backfill audits.
• Technical and mechanical aptitude.
• Authorized to handle explosives per the Safe Explosives Act and be familiar with their use.
• Must meet the Task Matrix Proficiency Levels for a Sand Plant Operator 1 or 2 (See Task Matrix).
• Must meet the Physical Requirements for the Sand Plant Operator 1 or 2 (see Physical Requirements and Working Conditions in the HR Office).
• Understanding of and strong commitment to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Preferred:

• Mobile equipment experience.
• Previous sand plant experience.
