Job summary

Lehigh Heavy Forge Corporation in Charleston, West Virginia is seeking a Blaster to organize and manage blasting operations, ensuring equipment is properly maintained and ready for use. The role requires abrading surfaces and achieving specified finishes while maintaining safety and cleanliness in the work area.

The ideal candidate will follow written or verbal instructions, have basic experience in blasting, and possess computer skills for time tracking.

Qualifications

• Must have basic experience in blasting or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to follow written or verbal instructions with accuracy.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to blasting operations.
• Proficient with computer use for time tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and plans the blasting process and material usage for projects.
• Ensures blasting equipment is maintained and ready for operation.
• Abrades surfaces to remove scale, paint, rust, and dirt to specified finish.
• Measures finished surfaces to ensure conformity to specs.
• Maintains a clean, organized work area to support manufacturing functions.
• Willing to cross-train and perform other related tasks as needed.

Your responsibilities

• Organizes and plans the use of blasting equipment and materials for the various projects
• Ensures that the blasting equipment is properly maintained and in a ready state of operation
• Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish using abrasive-blasting equipment
• Examines and measures finished surfaces to ensure conformance to specifications
• Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions
• Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
