Job summary

Unisys is seeking a senior storage engineer to support Storage Area Networks and Network Attached Storage across enterprise environments. You will deliver L3 remote support, resolve complex storage problems, and drive proactive improvements.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of storage experience with SAN/NAS, Brocade, Cisco MDS SAN, and Dell EMC Unity/PowerMax. Remote work up to five days per week within the U.S. and a strong ITIL background are desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field.
• 7 years of storage experience including administration, architecture, security, backup, and optimization of SAN/NAS systems.
• Experience with SAN/NAS hardware: Brocade, Cisco MDS SAN, Dell EMC Unity/PowerMax/Recover Point/Powerstore.
• Position permits remote work up to 5 days per week throughout the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Provide L3 storage support and expert problem resolution for enterprise environments.
• Identify and automate regular storage routines based on client and infrastructure requirements.
• Perform daily storage administration, monitoring, tuning, and backups for recovery readiness.
• Conduct incident investigations and apply ITIL-based incident/change/problem management.
• Prepare, approve, and coordinate technical and customer documentation; conduct user training as needed.

Job description

What success looks like in this role:

• Support functionality and efficiency of Storage, including Storage Area Networks and Network Attached Storage;
• Deliver second and/or third level remote support services to clients to resolve product use and multi-product/platform problems relating to enterprise systems, networks, and application software;
• Serve as the L3 support expert for the L1 and L2 teams and supporting issue resolution and escalations across all the assigned client deliveries;
• Identify and automate the regular storage support routines based on client and infrastructure requirements;
• Deliver daily steady state tasks such as storage administration; and monitor, maintain, and update storage devices;
• Perform daily checks on storage devices, analyze logs, conduct performance tuning of storage arrays and devices, and ensure required backups for all possible recovery scenarios;
• Conduct incident investigations and perform troubleshooting to resolve incidents and define proactive Service improvement plans to support the delivery of technical solutions to a wide range of problems ensuring Steady State delivery teams execute and deliver continuous improvement in alignment with the defined plans;
• Execute incident management, change management, and problem management in line with ITIL standards;
• Review and approve infrastructure change requests, work on delivery of complex infrastructure change requests, and perform impact analysis before any change is approved in the ITSM tool;
• Prepare, approve, and coordinate the implementation of technical documentation and ensure that technical and customer documentation is current and complete; and
• Suggest, develop, and conduct user training, technical training, and orientation.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology; Network Administration; Computer Engineering, or a closely related field;
• Must have 7 years of experience in job offered, 7 years domain work experience related to Storage including the administration, architecting, configuration, security, failover, backup, and optimization of Storage Area Networks and Network Attached Storage systems.
• Must have 7 years of work experience with the following: Storage Area Networks and Network Attached Storage, Brocade, Cisco MDS SAN, Dell EMC Storage, Unity, PowerMax, Recover Point, Powerstore.
• Position permits remote work up to 5 days per week throughout the U.S.
