Job summary

SilverRide is seeking reliable independent contractor drivers in San Diego to provide door-through-door paratransit rides for older adults and people with mobility needs. You’ll help riders from home to vehicle and onward to medical appointments, social activities, and more.

As a driver companion, you combine safe driving with compassionate assistance, meet credentialing requirements, pass background checks, and maintain a clean vehicle.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license for at least 3 years with a clean driving record.
• Must pass Federal Transit Authority and state drug/alcohol tests prior to employment and agree to random testing.
• Consent to fingerprinting and criminal background check; no felonies or violence charges.
• Meet SilverRide credentialing requirements related to senior care knowledge and ADA safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide door-through-door paratransit rides to older adults and mobility-impaired riders.
• Drive a 4-door sedan or SUV (2014+), ensure vehicle is clean and safe.
• Assist riders from home to vehicle and from vehicle to destination; ensure safety throughout.
• Adhere to scheduling, credentialing, and compliance requirements with dispatch.

Help older adults get to medical appointments, social outings, and more with our unique door-through-door transportation service.

About SilverRide

SilverRide is a fully licensed TNC operator that facilitates assisted-ride services to a broad range of individuals and organizations who need support during their trip. We’ve provided over a million rides for older adults, people living with disabilities, and others with mobility challenges since our founding in 2007.

We help clients get things done, socialize and have enriching life experiences. This is accomplished via door-through-door service, helping folks from inside their homes to the vehicle and then from the vehicle to their destination. What's a Driver Companion

We're looking for reliable, friendly independent contractor drivers who not only enjoy driving, meeting new people and earning money, but also take pride in providing help to those who need a little extra assistance.

Application Requirements

• Age 21 or older
• A valid U.S. driver's license for a MINIMUM of 3 years with a clean driving record; proof will be required. A driving record check will be completed and reviewed before you're authorized to join the network. No DUI/DWI are allowed; no moving violations within the past year; no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
• You must pass Federal Transit Authority and state drug and alcohol tests prior to employment and agree to random testing while you are active in SilverRide’s driver network.
• A willingness to be fingerprinted and pass a criminal background check
• No felonies or charges involving violence
• Not on the National Sex Offender Registry
• Meet SilverRide’s credentialing requirements related to the knowledge and proficiency on the senior condition, ADA, physical transfers, safety and more. SilverRide’s network of drivers provides service to riders for transit agencies, healthcare providers and senior service organizations that can have heavy compliance and credentialing requirements. SilverRide is an expert in these requirements and can assist you in filling in any gaps you may have so that these driving opportunities are available to you.
• Drivers must agree to take passengers with service animals. Even if a driver has allergies, the law requires that the driver take the rider and service animal.
• 4-door sedan or low SUV that is 2014 or newer with 5 to 8 passenger seats including driver.
• Current, valid vehicle registration.
• Proof of insurance in your name.
• Your vehicle will have to pass an inspection as required by your state.
• Vehicles need to be clean and not have any smell of smoke or drugs (marijuana).
