Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to lead PLC-based development of control systems for HVAC, Exhaust, UPW and IWT in retrofit and greenfield projects. You will ensure engineering deliverables meet NFPA, ISA, IEC and local codes.

You will act as the main technical liaison between the owner and EOR, align I&C designs with codes, participate in HAZOP/LOPA/SIL studies, and guide EOR teams to deliver robust, safe systems.

Qualifications

• 6 to 8 years of experience in instrumentation and control design engineering.
• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic engineering or related fields.
• Expertise with industry standards and codes (ISA, IEC, NES, NFPA).
• Proven I&C design skills. Instrumentation selection, PLC systems and industrial network architecture.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and enforce Samsung design standards, specifications, and performance criteria.
• Ensure EOR and contractor adhere to functional requirements.
• Confirm that EOR I&C design is complete, technically correct, and aligns with owner expectations.
• Act as the main technical liaison between the owner and the EOR for all I&C design matters.
• Ensure I&C design aligns with applicable codes e.g: IEC, ISA, NFPA, NEC and local regulatory requirements.
• Provide expert inputs during HAZOP, LOPA, SIL assessment, and ensure proper implementation.
• Evaluate proposed design changes, identifying potential impact on functionality, safety and cost.
