Position Overview

Reporting to the Sample Services Manufacturing Lead, this position is flexible on a day-to-day basis and includes responsibilities such as: compounding, spray dryer operation, Glass Encapsulation operation, training for spray dryer and Glass Encapsulation extruder operations, providing backup for the Sample Services Manufacturing Lead, and other duties as assigned. Key duties include:

Equipment Operation:

• Operate spray dryers, liquid compounding, and Glass Encapsulation extruder, applying basic principles including equipment flow and functions.
• Follow start-up and shutdown procedures for spray dryers and Glass Encapsulation extruders.
• Perform cleaning procedures for equipment.
• Implement emergency procedures as needed.
• Maintain and use spray dryer and extruder equipment properly.
• Ensure proper liquid compounding practices for quality and food safety.

Training:

• Provide hands-on training for new hires and team members on equipment operation and cleaning.
• Accurately scan, weigh, and record ingredients for various compounds.
• Understand raw material codes, lot numbering, and WMS systems.
• Follow Quality Assurance sampling and documentation requirements, MSDS, and warning labels.

Other Responsibilities:

• Assess work impact and communicate issues.
• Identify equipment performance trends and communicate with maintenance.
• Operate a forklift (certification required).
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety regulations.
• Perform duties safely with PPE.
• Maintain an audit-ready facility.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 24 college credits/CEUs or 4 years of lab experience.
• Strong PC skills, familiarity with Windows, data management.
• Experience in food manufacturing or related environment, basic cooking skills.
• Professional communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills, conflict resolution.
• Self-motivated, organized, able to prioritize and manage time.
• Decision-making and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to present information clearly.
• Teamwork, flexibility for weekends/overtime.
