Job summary

SPL in Plano, TX is seeking a detail-oriented Sample Management Technician to join our environmental laboratory team. You will handle intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision-making, from logging in LIMS to storage and distribution.

Responsibilities include receiving samples, verifying condition standards, recording analyses, labeling, and maintaining secure storage.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of relevant work experience involving administrative support, accurate data entry, documentation, and records management.
• Prior experience in a laboratory, sample management, or related technical environment strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and standard computer applications.

• Receive and document samples from clients, couriers, shipping, laboratory, and/or field staff.
• Verify that all samples meet condition standards and comply with policies, quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
• Accurately record sample information, details, and required analyses in laboratory software system.
• Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Maintain orderly and secure sample storage areas and oversee placement, retrieval, and disposal according to protocols.
• Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments as required.
• Provide assistance to colleagues and support related operational functions, including inventory management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We’re searching for a detail-oriented Sample Management Technician to join our environmental laboratory team in Plano, TX.

In this role, you’ll handle the intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision-making. From logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to overseeing storage and distribution, your work ensures accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across the lab.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain orderly and secure sample storage areas and oversee the proper placement, retrieval, and disposal of samples in accordance with established protocols
• Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments as required
• Provide assistance to colleagues and support related operational functions, including inventory management, supply preparation, and general support activities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of relevant work experience involving administrative support, accurate data entry, documentation, and records management
• Prior experience in a laboratory, sample management, or related technical environment strongly preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and standard computer applications

Work Schedule

• Full-time, onsite position
• Ability to work outside of scheduled hours, including evenings or weekends, as required to meet operational needs
