Job summary

PYP is seeking a reliable Heavy Equipment Operator to move salvage vehicles through all operation phases and maintain the yard. You will use scanners and tablets to update inventory and support dispatch with daily work orders.

Qualified candidates have 1+ years of heavy equipment experience, basic tech skills, and good communication. Ability to stay calm under pressure and work well with others is essential.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a related role.
• Must have heavy equipment operations experience and some automotive background.
• Must possess basic technology competence (scan gun, tablet/phone apps).
• Must have good oral and written communication skills.
• Must stay calm and focused in a high‑pressure, fast-paced environment.
• Must work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Perform preoperational inspections to ensure equipment is safe for work.
• Operate equipment safely around pedestrians and vehicle traffic; may use wheel loader, car crusher, skid loader or forklift.
• Check fluids daily and report findings to management.
• Prioritize and plan workload to prevent delays in operations.
• Unload cars using heavy equipment and stage for inventory, dismantle and cuts.
• Maintain grounds: roads, drainage and salvage yard; assist with cleanup.
• Ensure compliance and QA of dismantled vehicles before unloading from bays.
• Process and crush vehicles that reached end of life and load onto scrap haulers.
• Assist with safety and regulatory compliance for the facility.
