Job summary

Harris Teeter in Indian Trail, NC is seeking a Salvage (Forklift Experience) worker for the 3rd shift. You will unload and load salvage trailers, operate forklifts, bail materials, and sort salvage dock items while maintaining cleanliness and following safety rules.

Responsibilities include cross-training and adhering to attendance policies, with a focus on teamwork and efficiency in a loud warehouse environment. Must be 18+, have a GED or HS diploma, and pass forklift certification.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language: ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and communicate with customers and coworkers.
  • Math: basic arithmetic using dollars and measurements.
  • Reasoning: follow detailed written or oral instructions and solve simple problems.
  • Certifications: Forklift Certification Test must be passed.

Responsibilities

  • Unload and load trailers with pallets and salvage materials.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely in a warehouse setting.
  • Sort, bail, and organize salvage dock material.
  • Maintain housekeeping, sanitation, and safety standards.
  • Follow attendance policies and work schedule commitments.
  • Complete tasks and assist as directed by supervisors.

Job description

SALVAGE (FORKLIFT EXPERIENCE) - 3rd shift

Keep salvage dock clean and organized by unloading and loading salvage trailers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Unload and load trailer with pallets, milk & egg crates, cardboard & plastic, load bars, and other salvage materials
  • Drive and operated heavy industrial equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Bail cardboard and plastic
  • Sort salvage dock material and place in proper area
  • Complete any additional responsibilities assigned by the Transportation and/or Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Cross training required.
  • Follow guidelines and procedures pertaining to housekeeping and sanitation.
  • Follow company's attendance policy by coming to work on time and when scheduled.
  • Follow company's safety policies and procedures.

  • Math Ability:Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of VLM Time System, Triceps Scan Station.
  • Certificates and Licenses:Must be able to pass Forklift Certification Test.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
