Job summary

Mane Lobby is seeking a motivated Salon Assistant in New Jersey to join our growing team for immediate hire. You will support experienced stylists with daily services and client prep in a professional salon environment.

This role offers hands-on experience, with potential to grow into a full-time hairstylist and to manage your own chair as skills develop.

Starting pay is $16 per hour, with higher pay based on experience, and both full-time and part-time opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional salon experience preferred.
• Current New Jersey cosmetology license or enrollment in a cosmetology program preferred.
• Experience with shampooing, conditioning, blow-drying, and basic salon services.
• Knowledge of hair coloring, hair care products, and styling techniques is a plus.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced salon environment.
• Reliable, punctual, organized, and professional.
• Genuine interest in developing a long-term career in hairstyling.

Responsibilities

• Assist hairstylists with daily salon services, including shampooing, conditioning, blow-drying, and preparing clients for appointments.
• Perform professional shampoo services, scalp treatments, and conditioning treatments.
• Assist with hair coloring services, including preparation, application support, and cleanup under the direction of licensed stylists.
• Prepare styling stations, tools, products, and equipment for scheduled appointments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized salon environment throughout the day.
• Greet clients professionally and help create a welcoming salon experience.
• Assist with client scheduling, appointment preparation, and general salon operations when needed.
• Monitor salon supplies, restock products, and maintain inventory organization.
• Support hairstylists in managing appointment flow and maintaining efficient service times.
• Demonstrate initiative, teamwork, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
