Job Overview
Entry level Salesperson or Store Driver positions support the DIY business at Advance Auto Parts. Responsibilities include customer service, sales, DIY services, inventory management, and safe part delivery. Positions may be part‑time or full‑time; fleet safety certification is preferred.
Salesperson – Primary Responsibilities
- Provide excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls.
- Achieve personal sales goals and help the store achieve its sales targets.
- Provide DIY services such as battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
- Maintain store product and operational standards.
- Manage inventory processes, including truck put‑away, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, and back stock.
Salesperson – Secondary Responsibilities
- Maintain store cleanliness (floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot).
- General stocking, including truck stocking and back stock.
- Safely deliver parts to customers as needed.
Salesperson – Success Factors
- Basic driving and navigation ability.
- Ability to use delivery board system.
- Friendly communication.
- Ability to locate and stock parts.
- Safety knowledge and skills.
- Operating inventory systems and store equipment.
- Parts and automotive system knowledge.
- Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
- Expertise with testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
Salesperson – Essential Job Skills
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus). Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers, and management.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
- Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Salesperson – Prior Experience
- 2-3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences.
Store Driver – Primary Responsibilities
- Safely deliver parts to customers as needed.
- Pick and stage parts for customer orders.
- Pick up returns and cores.
- Drop off weekly/monthly sales flyers.
- Daily collection of credit accounts.
Store Driver – Secondary Responsibilities
- Maintain store cleanliness (floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot).
- General stocking, including truck stocking and back stock.

- Must have a valid driver's license and be fleet safety certified.
Physical Demands
Walking or standing predominate. Must be able to touch, feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs. Close, distance, color, depth vision, and focus adjust required.
Work Environment
Primarily indoors, occasionally outdoors. Exposed to weather, moving mechanical parts, high places, chemicals, electrical shock, explosives, vibration. Moderate noise level.
Compensation
Good faith estimate: $18.81 per hour for a new team member. Rate varies by geography, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership roles, skill sets, and shift differential.
