Job summary

The State of Colorado, Department of Labor and Employment, seeks a Salesforce Administrator to join a highly collaborative agile team. You will maintain user access, build reports/dashboards, and help implement new Salesforce features across mission-critical apps.

Hybrid work options are available with in-person requirements: at least one monthly team meeting, and residency within Colorado. Strong Salesforce expertise and experience with Tableau are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Six (6) years of relevant experience including technical aptitude, design of reports/dashboards, auditing database records, and Agile project participation; prior Salesforce experience.
  • A combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to six (6) years.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain user accounts, permissions, and data governance in Salesforce.
  • Import data from source systems via Data Loader or API.
  • Build reports and dashboards from Salesforce or Tableau sources.
  • Customize pages, layouts, and picklist values to meet user needs.
  • Create flows, triggers, permission sets, and sharing rules.
  • Coordinate technical documentation and training materials for staff; participate in testing.

Team supporting both the existing Salesforce applications as part of day-to-day maintenance and operations as well as configuring new solutions. This position is a part of a highly collaborative agile team that assists with prioritizing and completion of work, which includes, but is not limited to: system maintenance, support, reporting and configuration, and training and documentation. For mission-critical business situations, this position is expected to be ready and available for stand‑by or on‑call duty that may occur outside of regular business hours. This position is also expected to act independently in analysis, evaluation, and applying judgment and action to address issues concerning application functionality or user interfaces. The Salesforce Administrator’s technical support work will focus on the following tangible work products:

  • Completing user maintenance, including adding new users, amending existing accounts, checking system permissions on user profiles, and determining and creating data rules.
  • Managing data coming into the Salesforce application from source systems via Data Loader or API
  • Building reports and dashboards that expose the wealth of information from data in Salesforce or other data sources. The reports and dashboards can originate from Salesforce.org or Tableau through the dedicated connectors.
  • Customize and develop pages and view the users' needs (adding picklist values, amending page layouts, creating assignment rules, and much more)
  • Build flows and triggers to support the process flow.
  • Creating permission sets and sharing rules.
  • Coordinate and produce technical documentation for the Salesforce team as well as training materials such as handouts, release notes, and user-update notifications for technical and non-technical users. Participate in training activities for staff.
  • Test new code and direct system and user testing
  • Analyze complex issues and use knowledge gained in formal and informal training or research to resolve Salesforce issues, configure the system, and make code changes to meet user and business needs while working within department guidelines.
  • Assisting with the deployment of new objects and changes to the system, participating in test cases, and package development
  • Suggesting ways for the features and capabilities of the Salesforce platform to improve manual or automated processes.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position to include: T echnical aptitude & logic (database / programming concepts), customer service/troubleshooting user‑reported issues, designing reports and/or dashboards based on organized data; auditing database records; authoring step‑by‑step user guides; or participating in software testing and Agile project teams; previous salesforce experience.

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years

Preferred Qualifications
  • Salesforce Administrator Certification
  • Experience with Tableau reporting.
  • Experience performing similar duties as a State of Colorado classified employee.
