Job summary

Merit is seeking a Sales and Use Tax Manager in Dallas, Texas to lead complex engagements, mentor tax professionals, and drive innovative planning for clients. This role emphasizes client success, staff development, and proactive tax strategy.

The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of state and local tax experience, with a focus on indirect tax, and a proven ability to grow client relationships and services. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required.
• CPA, CMI, or JD is a plus.
• Minimum of 6 years of state and local tax experience focusing on indirect tax compliance and consulting.
• Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop staff.
• Strong relationship management and practice development skills.
• Demonstrated ability to attract new clients and expand services to existing clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple complex sales and use tax engagements.
• Develop and implement innovative tax planning strategies for clients.
• Monitor and communicate changes in state tax laws and regulations.
• Provide clear and comprehensive written communications on key tax issues to the firm and clients.
• Mentor and develop Associates and Senior Associates enhancing their technical and client service skills.
• Cultivate strong client relationships and deliver exceptional client service.
