Job summary

Employee Relations Associates, Inc. seeks a detail-oriented Sales & Use Tax Analyst for a contract role to support indirect tax compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions. You will assist with filings, exemption management, tax research, and audit support.

This position requires 2+ years of experience in sales and use tax, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. ERP and tax software experience (Vertex, OneSource, Avalara) is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in sales and use tax or indirect tax compliance.
• Experience preparing multi-state sales and use tax returns.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems is preferred.
• Experience with tax software such as Vertex, OneSource, Avalara, or similar is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns.
• Review transactions for taxability and ensure accurate application of sales and use tax.
• Maintain exemption certificates and resolve customer tax documentation requests.
• Research tax issues and assist with responding to state tax notices and audits.
• Reconcile tax accounts and support month-end close activities.
• Partner with internal teams to resolve tax-related questions and improve compliance processes.
