Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm
Work Location:City Administration Building 30 S Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.This position requires full-time, in-office presence.
As an Analyst I, you will:
- Data Collection & Organization: Gather and structure data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and external businesses that collect and remit sales tax, to support Sales Tax Enforcement Officers and Auditors.
- Data Analysis: Examine and interpret sales tax records from businesses to identify patterns, discrepancies, and trends, providing actionable insights that guide decision-making.
- Process Improvement:Develop and implement best practices for data analysis, continuously improving how we collect, audit, and manage tax-related data.
- Quality Assurance:Conduct regular audits and perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with sales tax regulations.
- Reporting: Create ad-hoc reports to answer specific operational questions and prepare weekly or monthly summaries to support cross-functional areas, ensuring data-driven decisions are made across the organization.
- Construction Project Reconciliation: Conduct detailed reviews of construction-related tax data, including economic incentives, tax exemptions, refunds, and compliance audits
- Amended Returns & Refund Oversight: Verify the accuracy of amended tax returns and refund requests, ensuring compliance with all regulations and policies.
- New Sales Tax System Rollout: Support the transition to a new Sales Tax system by assisting with data migration, reconciliations, and ensuring a smooth implementation process.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related area of study.
One year of full-time, professional experience in accounting or finance
