Job summary

Compass Group USA is seeking a Sales Tax Accountant to join the Tax Department in a hybrid role based in Mobile, AL. You will own multi-state sales and use tax compliance and partner with corporate and field operations to ensure accurate filings.

The role offers visibility across departments and opportunities for upward mobility within a nationally recognized finance team, with a focus on process improvements and staying ahead of evolving tax laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting or Tax focus preferred.
• CPA or CMI designation preferred or actively pursuing.
• Experience with multi-state sales and use tax compliance; foodservice or related industry a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to SAP and tax software tools such as Vertex or Alteryx.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns with detailed data analysis.
• Own reconciliation of sales and use tax GL accounts.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve tax variances.
• Prepare sales tax registrations, renewals, and permit cancellations across jurisdictions.
• Stay updated on evolving tax laws to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
