Job summary

Medtronic in Madison, WI is seeking a Sales Representative I, Spine to drive territory coverage and grow Spine product sales. You will manage consignments, inventory, and customer accounts while coordinating with District Sales Manager on calls and reports.

The role requires versatility, a strong customer focus, and the ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed in a field-based setting across the Madison area.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 4+ years experience, or an Associate’s Degree with 2+ years experience, or a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Relevant sales, clinical, or related experience in medical devices, medtech, healthcare, or life sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Territory case coverage.
  • Maintain consignments and loaner inventory.
  • Keep non-usage and flight usage to a minimum.
  • Manage accounts in the assigned territory.
  • Prepare and submit call reports as required by the District Sales Manager.
  • Maintain up-to-date customer records per District Sales Manager’s instructions.
  • Aggressively solicit orders from present and prospective customers.
  • Aggressively seek new customers and follow plans as directed by the District Sales Manager.
  • Resolve customer complaints per Medtronic Spinal policies and report beyond authority.
  • Recommend new products or modifications to the line as appropriate.
  • Meet or exceed sales quota and market share in territory.
  • Identify selling opportunities and work with team to increase sales.
  • Work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required on emergency basis.

At Medtronic, the Sales Representative I, Spine is responsible for soliciting orders, selling Medtronic Spinal products assigned and representing the company in accordance with its policies and in the area assigned; for maintaining an awareness of local competitive conditions. This position will work in tandem with Spine Sales Representatives II and will have territory coverage responsibility and limited sales responsibility. Allocation guideline for core responsibilities include: Inventory Management, Case Coverage, and Selling (outside the operating room).

This is a field-based position in Madison, WI and covering the surrounding area.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Territory case coverage.
  • Maintain, manage and track Consignments and Loaner inventory.
  • Keep non usage and flight usage to a minimum level.
  • Manage accounts in assigned territory.
  • Prepare and submit call reports as required by the District Sales Manager.
  • Maintain up-to-date customer record books and other records in accordance with District Sales Manager’s instructions.
  • Aggressively solicit orders from present and prospective customers for the products assigned.
  • Aggressively seek new customers and formulate and follow plans for such action as directed by the District Sales Manager.
  • Resolve customer complaints in accordance with Medtronic Spinal policies and advise District Sales Manager and Medtronic Spinal promptly of any situation beyond scope of authority.
  • Recommend the additions of new products and the modification or deletion of present products to the line as appropriate.
  • Meet or exceed sales quota and total company market share in assigned territory.
  • Identify selling opportunities and work closely with the sales representative to increase sales in their respective accounts.
  • Work weekends, evenings, and Holidays as required on an emergency basis.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 4+ years experience*
  • OR Associate’s Degree and 2+ years experience*
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree
  • Relevant sales, clinical, or related experience in medical devices, medtech, healthcare, or life sciences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ortho, Spine or O.R. experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in an operating room setting
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of people and personalities
  • Preference will be given to local qualified candidates

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):60,000-60,000

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), which provides the opportunity to earn significant incentive compensation for achieving or exceeding your goals.

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
