$68,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr
Edlen Electrical Exhibition Services, the nation’s leading independent temporary utility contractor for the tradeshow, convention and special event industry, is seeking a dynamicSalesManagerfor our San Diego Office. The ideal candidate is a motivated, well-organized individual who has a deep understanding of prospecting and developing strong relationships with customers. This individual will promote and manage sales while interacting with Edlen’s team in all phases of event production. Experience in hospitality sales is plus. Candidates with experience in theconvention, meeting, trade show or special event industryare highly preferred.
Summary:Sales Manager(SM) will build a market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships. This includes relationships with [the San Diego Convention Center, Town & Country Resort as well as other facilities as agreed upon with the Sr. VP of Sales and General Manager. This SM will promote and manage sales while interacting with Edlen’s team in all phases of event production. The SM will possess a strong business acumen, a strong work ethic, a passion for sales and services, teamwork, and a willingness to learn the trade show/events industry.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Actively engages in sales by making a constant effort to find new business through cold calls, networking, and or referrals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with hotels, and convention facilities.
- Works in partnership with the management team to prepare proposals, sales presentations and client correspondence as required.
- Work to ensure the successful completion of contracted business (may include weekends)
- Utilize Clarity soft to track facility, GSC, Third Party, and any direct show management information.
- Collaborate with the national sales team to develop and grow sales.
- Attend onsite or virtual meetings with team members and/or clients.
- May perform floor manager duties to support the Events team on show site.
- Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements, tracking individual contributors and their accomplishments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Service Oriented- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes assessment of customer needs, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluating customer satisfaction. Actively looking for ways to help people. Ability to meet with customers, clients, and team members in person to deliver outstanding external and internal customer service.
- Sales and Marketing— Display a passion for sales and prospecting. Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
- Negotiationand Persuasion-Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences. Demonstrate presentation and closing skills. Territory Management, Market Knowledge, Presentation Skills, Energy Level, Meeting Sales Goals, Professionalism.
- Communication-Display excellent communication skills in both speaking and writing to effectively convey information. Ability to use technology tools to commute such as phones and virtual meeting software.
- Active Listening— Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Active Learning- Ability to learn all aspects of the production process in the delivery of temporary utility services, to successfully sell and contract business.
- Time Management— Managing one's own time and respecting the time of others.
- Administration and Management— Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Display excellent managerial, organizational, interpersonal and sales skills with proven leadership ability.
- Teamwork-Ability to support management and co-workers in day‐to‐day operations, as needed.
- Technology- Ability to learn and navigate Edlen’s event management system, CRM, and Microsoft Suite
- Territory Management-Knowledge of the market hotels and convention facilities is a plus. Demonstrate the ability to create new relationships and maintain current relationships in the market.
- Ability to travel within the market area on a regular basis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Must be able to commute by automobile or other transportation vehicle to meet with clients, work at the office and at events.
- Must possess strong business acumen, a strong work ethic, high energy, enthusiasm and a passion for the trade show/special events industry.
- Knowledge of San Diego hotels and convention facilities a plus
- Ability to travel within San Diego area on regular basis.
Education and Experience:
- One to three years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or relevant industry experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office setting and/or at a convention center or hotel or on show site.
