POSCO International America is seeking a Sales Manager to lead new business development and customer management activities for the North American automotive and mobility markets.
About the Role
This position will develop new business opportunities with North American automotive OEMs and Tier 1 customers and propose mobility solutions encompassing internal-combustion-engine (ICE), hybrid, and electric-vehicle components and assemblies. The Sales Manager will manage customer relationships, RFQ responses, pricing and commercial negotiations, while working closely with Korea headquarters, overseas manufacturing entities, and global suppliers to support the development and execution of new programs. We are looking for a goal-oriented, hands-on sales professional with at least five years of experience in automotive, mobility, manufacturing, or supply-chain-related fields.
Responsibilities
New Business Development and Sales
- Analyze market potential, customer sourcing plans, new vehicle programs, and competitor activities in assigned markets.
- Identify target customers and key decision-makers through industry networks, market research, and multiple business-development channels.
- Develop new business opportunities with North American automotive OEMs and Tier 1 customers.
- Promote and present POSCO International America’s product portfolio to existing and prospective customers.
- Build and manage a qualified sales pipeline and support annual and mid-term sales planning.
- Prepare and deliver customer-specific presentations, proposals, quotations, and commercial offers.
- Achieve assigned sales targets and new-business-development objectives within required timelines.
- Support new business development in adjacent markets, including commercial vehicles, defense, robotics, and data centers.
RFQ and Commercial Management
- Manage the full RFQ process, including customer-requirement review, cost analysis, quotation preparation, internal approval, and submission.
- Coordinate pricing, capacity, logistics, and supply terms with Korea headquarters, manufacturing entities, and suppliers.
- Negotiate product pricing, tooling costs, logistics costs, and other key commercial terms with customers.
- Review contractual terms and address commercial matters, including claims and price adjustments.
- Track RFQ status, customer feedback, sourcing decisions, supplier-selection schedules, and expected revenue.
Customer and Program Management
- Build and maintain relationships with customer purchasing, engineering, supply-chain, and program teams.
- Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned customers and projects.
- Coordinate technical review meetings among customers, supplier engineering teams, and relevant POSCO organizations.
- Coordinate and support customer visits by headquarters, manufacturing-entity, and supplier personnel.
- Support program execution from award through product development, launch, and mass production.
- Monitor program timing, demand changes, production capacity, delivery performance, and key business risks.
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve customer and supplier issues in a timely manner.
Internal Coordination and Reporting
- Coordinate activities with Korea headquarters, affiliates, manufacturing entities, suppliers, and North American organizations.
- Provide regular reports on customer requirements, new business opportunities, competitor activities, the RFQ pipeline, sales forecasts, and program status.
- Support annual business planning, budgeting, and performance management.
- Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, and project information in Salesforce and internal reporting systems.
- Continuously improve sales activities and customer-response practices based on customer feedback and performance results.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, engineering, supply chain, marketing, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in automotive sales, business development, program management, manufacturing, or supply chain.
- Experience working with automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or automotive component manufacturers.
- Understanding of automotive RFQ, sourcing, supplier nomination, and program-launch processes.
- Demonstrated experience identifying prospective customers and building professional customer relationships.
- Strong commercial analysis, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to independently manage assigned accounts, sales opportunities, and multiple projects.
- Strong prioritization, scheduling, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and working knowledge of Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across organizations, functions, and cultures.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Required Skills
- Experience with electric motors, motor cores, electrical steel, actuators, drivetrain components, or other ICE, hybrid, or EV components.
- Experience supporting Korean or global automotive OEMs and component suppliers.
- Experience with automotive cost analysis, tooling, logistics, tariffs, and commercial contracts.
- Experience working with overseas headquarters and manufacturing entities.
- Experience supporting new-program development, launch, and mass production.
