Job Description
Reports To:Directorof Sales & Marketing(DOSM)
General Purpose:The Sales Manageris responsible forgroup room markets for the Corporate, SMERF and Association market segment.The Sales Manager sells to individual accounts and groupsin accordance withtheobjectivesestablishedin the marketing plan. The Sales Manager will ensure that sales activities and group bookings are focused to yield maximum revenue per available guest room.The Sales Manager will alsoassistwith marketing efforts as needed.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Buildsclient base through outside sales calls, salesblitzes, cold calling, prospecting, direct mail,networkingand referrals.
- Conductssite tours,representsthe hotel at trade shows and business events, focusingon all marketslocal and national.
- Identifiesgap periods (30/60/90 days& beyond), recommendstargeted sales & marketing plans to fill,andcommunicateseffectively to ensure proper execution of plan.
- Generatesmaximum revenue in the rooms andcateringdepartments through achievement of specific revenue booking goals in support of the hotel’s established strategies.
- Analyzesthe hotel's demand segments andsources of business for eachto maximize revenues and profit.
- Knowstheprinciplecompetition for each segment and leverageshotel's relative strengths against each.
- Deliversthe best service,qualityand value to every customer, every time.
- Personallydemonstratesa commitment to customer service bysolicitingand responding promptly to guest needsand inmeeting expectations.
- Maintainseffective involvement with key community organizations.
- Finalizescontracts for group bookings.
- Converseswith guest and hotel department heads to plan function details, such as space requirements, time schedule,and food service.
- Executescut-off dates on group bookings.
- Maximizesprofit andoptimizespace through salesin accordance withestablished pricing models,exercising good judgment.
- Preparesmonthly reports as requested by management, such as monthly pace reports, sales inquiry, sales site visits, sales action plan, etc.
- Attendsweekly meetings:
- Revenue meeting withDOSM, Revenue Manager,Sales Team,VPand GM.
- BEO meeting with DOSM, F&B team, Rooms team and Sales and Catering team
- One on one meeting withDOSM
- Other duties as assigned by yourDOSM.
Qualifications
- Excellentcommunication skills, both verbal and written.
- Most work tasks are performed independently.There is minimal direct supervision.
- Extensive knowledge of selling strategies and the ability to meet goals.
- Complete knowledge of hotel, catering, and event space.
- Abletoutilizeproperty adoptedfor booking, tracking, forecasting, and executingoptimalselling strategies.
- Comprehendsthe group sales processand negotiate accounts.
- Analyticallyapproachesproblem solving.
- Ableto analyze financial statements and market data.
- Desirestoparticipateas part of a team.
- Demonstratesself-confidence,energyand enthusiasm.
- Presentsideas and information in a concise, well-organized way.
- Effective listening skills.
- Managesgroup or interpersonal conflictsituationeffectively.
- Managestime well, correctly prioritizing tasks.

- Excellentnegotiation skillsin order tocreate win-win solutions.
- Mustpossesscomputer skills, including, but not limited to, accounting programs,Delphi,Microsoft Word,Exceland Outlook.
- Mustpass a background check.
Education/Formal Training:
- Bachelor’sdegree is preferred.
Travel Requirements:
- Some local travel to client sites and networking events
- Infrequent long-range travel.
Experience:
- Priorhotel salesandmanagement experiencerequired.
