Family owned & operated used auto parts company searching for a Sales Manager. Pete's Auto Parts is 30 employees strong, with 5 full-time salespeople. Our sales are divided as follows: 17% retail (local or shipped nationwide), 33% to body shops, garages, and used car dealers (mainly in western Michigan and northern Indiana), and 50% to other used auto parts stores nationwide. We pride ourselves on delivering parts as described and on time. The company is growing, and we are looking for the right person.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Sales Manager located in Jenison, MI. The Sales Manager will oversee and manage the sales team, set sales goals and targets, and develop strategic plans to achieve them. Daily tasks include monitoring sales performance, conducting market research, identifying new sales opportunities, maintaining relationships with key clients, training and mentoring new sales team members, preparing sales reports, and coordinating with other departments for seamless operations. The Sales Manager will also fill in for sales representatives during their absence, follow up with customers, and handle problem orders.

Qualifications

  • Sales skills, including setting sales targets, developing strategic sales plans, and performance monitoring
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and managing a sales team
  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills
  • Ability to prepare and analyze sales reports
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills
  • Previous experience in the automotive parts industry is a plus
  • Work 40-45 hours a week, 5 days a week, with no weekends and never exceeding 45 hours in a week
  • Set your own schedule for one-on-one meetings with team members
  • Work in an office within our wholesale and sales building, where three of your six direct reports have their own offices
  • Interact with two direct reports from the front counter, gaining hands-on experience with customers
  • Manage one remote, low-maintenance worker
  • Experience a small business culture that embraces quick changes without bureaucracy
  • Work with a four-person management team that has been at Pete's for 10+ years and meets bi-weekly for high-level reviews
  • Receive weekly mentorship from Jer Banta, an industry veteran and sales management expert
  • Contribute to the company's growth and positively impact team members, vendors, and customers
