Base pay range

$75,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr

Location: Remote (with some travel for client meetings and team development)

Compensation: $75,000 – $95,000 base salary + Commission + Performance Bonuses + Path to Leadership Growth

Pen Pioneer is a fast-growing, veteran-owned staffing and recruiting firm serving multiple industries including construction, legal, healthcare, manufacturing, IT, logistics, and professional services. We provide full-service staffing solutions: permanent placement, contract staffing, subscription-based recruiting, and executive search. As we scale, we’re looking for a highly motivated Sales Manager to drive daily sales execution, manage reps, and help expand our national client base.

Position Summary:

The Sales Manager will oversee daily sales operations, coach and manage sales reps, ensure pipeline health, and personally drive new business development efforts. This is a highly tactical, hands-on role focused on execution, accountability, and revenue production. The Sales Manager will report directly to the CEO, working closely with recruiting leadership and operations to ensure strong client onboarding, delivery, and retention.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Management & Coaching

  • Manage daily activities of assigned sales reps and appointment setters.
  • Conduct 1:1 coaching, pipeline reviews, and deal strategy sessions.
  • Monitor outreach activity, meeting targets, and overall pipeline health.
  • Provide ongoing training to improve prospecting, objection handling, and closing skills.

Direct Sales & Business Development

  • Actively prospect, develop, and close new client accounts.
  • Build relationships with HR leaders, hiring managers, and executives.
  • Deliver client presentations, proposals, and negotiate agreements.
  • Support enterprise and mid-market account growth.

Sales Operations & Process Management

  • Ensure CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.) is updated and used properly.
  • Track KPIs, conversion rates, close rates, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Provide weekly reporting to executive leadership on sales performance.
  • Refine outreach templates, cadences, and messaging for outbound campaigns.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with recruiting leadership to ensure strong client onboarding and candidate delivery.
  • Coordinate with marketing to support lead generation efforts.
  • Partner with finance and leadership on pricing models and deal structure.

Qualifications:

  • 4–6 years of B2B sales experience, with at least 2+ years in staffing, recruiting, or professional services strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring sales reps is highly desired.
  • Strong understanding of full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, proposal, close.
  • Skilled in outbound sales, cold calling, LinkedIn outreach, and lead management.
  • Ability to close SMB, mid-market, and enterprise-level accounts.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • CRM and data-driven sales management experience (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).
  • Veteran status or experience working with veteran-owned companies is a plus.
  • Commission structure tied directly to individual and team revenue production
