The Sales & Logistics Manager is responsible for leading the commercial execution, customer fulfillment, and outbound/inbound logistics operations for our high-speed aluminum beverage can and lid (ends) manufacturing facility. This role serves as the critical bridge between regional beverage brand clients, contract packagers (co-packers), internal production planning, and third-party freight networks.

The ideal candidate brings extensive background in high-volume packaging manufacturing, rigid container supply chain mechanics, and direct client relationship management, ensuring high-fill rates, optimized freight spend, and minimal inventory carrying costs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Serve as the plant-level primary commercial contact for contract fulfillment, lead-time negotiations, volume commitments, and allocation management during peak seasonal surges.

Partner with corporate commercial teams to execute regional pricing strategies, surcharges (e.g., Midwest Premium, scrap recovery spreads), and long-term supply agreements.

Oversee order-to-cash workflows, ensuring order accuracy, timely invoicing, credit term compliance, and dispute resolution.

OUTBOUND LOGISTICS & DISTRIBUTION

Direct outbound distribution for finished aluminum cans (palletized dunnage/slip-sheets) and ends (sleeves/boxes) to ensure zero customer line stoppages.

Assists with securing, negotiating, and managing contracts with dedicated carriers, freight brokers, and intermodal providers; managing freight RFPs and spot-market positioning.

Optimize truckload cubic utilization and payload weights while safeguarding lightweight can wall structures against transit damage.

Oversee returnable dunnage loops (top frames, plastic/wood pallets, separator sheets), minimizing asset attrition and controlling replacement costs.

S&OP, INVENTORY & PRODUCTION INTERFACING

Lead the monthly plant-level Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cadence, balancing confirmed client demand against plant line capacity and aluminum coil supply.

Coordinate with Production Schedulers to optimize can-line changeovers (size transitions such as 12 oz standard, 16 oz, and sleek cans) and end/tab conversion press schedules.

Manage warehouse operations for finished goods (FG) and maintaining target safety stocks and minimizing inventory turns.

QUALITY, COMPLIANCE & CLAIMS RESOLUTION

Act as the commercial escalation point for technical customer complaints, transit damage, or container integrity issues (e.g., buckle resistance, flange damage, double-seam compatibility).

Facilitate root-cause investigations alongside Plant Quality and Technical Service Engineers to resolve formal claims and issue credits when appropriate.

Ensure all shipping documentation, bill of ladings (BOLs), carrier insurance certifications, and DOT/OSHA compliance mandates are met.

TEAM LEADERSHIP & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Directly supervise and mentor Logistics Coordinators, Shipping/Receiving Supervisors, and Key Account Managers.

Formulate and manage the annual plant logistics and warehousing operating budgets.
