POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Waco, TX facility manufactures aluminum beverage cans commonly used for soft drinks, beers, energy drinks, teas and non-carbonated beverages. Using state of the art can-making technology, this high speed environment provides rewarding manufacturing opportunities.

Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, the Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining an efficient, timely, and appropriate supply of parts and equipment needed to sustain the plant's operating capability. This role ensures that the "bloodline" of the Waco, Texas, facility remains intact by managing the essential materials that keep high-speed production lines moving.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

INVENTORY & STOREROOM MANAGEMENT

Receiving & Stocking: Receive, stock, and manage the inventory for parts and support materials within the storeroom.

Procurement Support: Create purchase requisitions based on established stocking levels and review those levels based on usage data and lead times.

System Accuracy: Responsible for inbound forms, inventory tags, and performing counts on materials received or shipped.

Access Control: Regulate access to inventory resources to ensure security and systematic organization

WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS & LOGISTICS

Material Movement: Load, unload, ship, and receive warehouse items, ensuring loads are secured before transportation.

Forklift Operation: Handle heavy industrial equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and basket trucks. You must be certified by the company before operation.

Production Support: Pull jobs for production and move pallets directly to production locations by studying specifications and verifying supplies.

Shipping Preparation: Pick and wrap orders for shipment, ensuring goods are moved efficiently from one location to another.

QUALITY & SAFETY OVERSIGHT

Defect Reporting: Identify and report any damaged or lost goods, as well as obvious defects in incoming or outgoing materials.

Safety Procedures: Stay aware of possible hazards while operating machinery and follow all proper safety procedures and automation standard practices.

PPE Compliance: Wear required safety equipment, including earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

1+ years of experience in inventory management along with shipping and receiving experience.

Experience with barcode scanning technology and automated inventory systems.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours).

Willingness to climb stairs and ladders and use hand/power tools.

Capability to work in extreme temperatures, all weather conditions, and around chemicals or fumes.

Willingness to work any shift in a 24/7/365 continuous manufacturing environment.

PREFERRED

General knowledge of SAP, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace

Forklift certification (or the ability to obtain one) to assist in staging heavy materials like ink pallets or chemical totes.

Prior experience in metal forming, packaging, or high-volume consumer goods (FMCG).

Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.

GENERAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Meticulous Organization: A passion for order; "a place for everything and everything in its place."

Sense of Urgency: Understanding that a missing $10 part can cost the plant $10,000 an hour in lost production.

Communication: Ability to work effectively with both the Plant Manager for strategic planning and the Maintenance Technicians for part identification.

Data Integrity: Unwavering commitment to accuracy in the digital system versus the physical shelf.

Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime, as required.

Ability to work with employees from many different cultures and backgrounds

Preference will be given to qualified local candidates

SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

General knowledge of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-site software

General knowledge of SAP, preferred; or other inventory shipping/receiving tracking systems knowledge

HOURS / SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

12 hour rotating shifts 4 days on and 4 days off; Rotating shifts requires working night shifts; Present to fulfill job duties & meet operational demands/support; Schedule may vary depending on plant operational needs thus flexibility is required which may include long days, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime; Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
