Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Waco, TX facility manufactures aluminum beverage cans commonly used for soft drinks, beers, energy drinks, teas and non-carbonated beverages. Using state of the art can-making technology, this high speed environment provides rewarding manufacturing opportunities.

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for improving the wrench time and efficiency of the maintenance workforce in the Aluminum Beverage Can Manufacturing Plant. This role achieves this by ensuring that all planned maintenance work (preventative, predictive, and corrective) is properly scoped, prioritized, scheduled, and ready for execution, with all necessary materials, permits, and resources secured in advance. This position is critical for maximizing equipment reliability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
WORK PLANNING AND PREPARATION

Work Order Management: Review incoming maintenance work requests, prioritizing them based on established criteria (safety, criticality, production impact), and converting them into detailed, executable work orders.

Job Scoping: Conduct field walk-downs to accurately determine the scope of work, including labor hours required by craft, necessary tools and equipment, and potential safety risks (LOTO, confined space, etc.).

Material Management: Identify and reserve all required spare parts and materials from inventory. Initiate purchase requests for non-stock items and track delivery to ensure materials are available prior to the planned start date.

Documentation: Create and maintain standardized, detailed job plans (step-by-step procedures) for repetitive and critical maintenance tasks to ensure consistent execution.

SCHEDULING AND COORDINATION

Scheduling: Develop the weekly and daily maintenance schedule, coordinating with Production Supervisors to minimize downtime and maximize resource utilization. Publish and communicate schedules to all stakeholders.

Resource Allocation: Coordinate the availability of internal maintenance technicians (mechanical, electrical, tooling) and external contractors, ensuring the correct skill sets are assigned to the planned jobs.

Permits and Safety: Ensure all necessary permits (e.g., hot work, confined space) and safety documentation are prepared, reviewed, and approved before scheduling work execution.

Backlog Management: Manage and continuously review the maintenance work backlog, ensuring jobs are appropriately classified, prioritized, and scheduled in a timely manner.

SYSTEM MANAGEMENT AND ANALYSIS

CMMS Proficiency: Serve as a key user of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, Oracle). Ensure data integrity by updating equipment records, bill of materials (BOMs), and job plan histories.

Metrics and Reporting: Track and report key maintenance performance indicators (KPIs) such as schedule compliance, planned maintenance percentage, wrench time, and backlog status to drive continuous improvement.

PM Optimization: Review the effectiveness of existing Preventative Maintenance (PM) routes, recommending adjustments or additions based on failure analysis and maintenance history.
