Essential Duties

• Courteously greets customers and provides information about the purpose and use of products.
• Promotes and sells merchandise by assisting customers with selections.
• Performs cashiering duties.
• Replenishes and checks in stock.
• Interprets the history of 18th-century Williamsburg and the colony of Virginia at Historic Area Stores.
• Participates in on‑the‑job and selling skills training programs.
• Works outdoors, as required, in all weather conditions.
• Maintains sanitary standards with food, bagging, and packaging products for sale.

Requirements

• 3 – 6 months public contact and/or sales experience
• Ability to assist the public in a pleasant and courteous manner generally gained through completion of a high school diploma/G.E.D.
• Knowledge of Colonial Williamsburg and 18th‑century history
• Ability to:
  • Research and document interpretive information
  • Contribute to team effort
  • Operate equipment critical to the operation
  • Handle money accurately
• Good arithmetic skills
• Physical requirements include, but are not limited to:
  • Transporting up to 100 pounds
  • Working while standing for long periods
  • Lifting, bending, stooping
  • Extensive use of stairs
