Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a Sales Intern for the Structural & Rail Division to support inside sales, respond to inquiries, and assist with order entry and quotes.

You will contribute to pricing, reporting, and customer service efforts while gaining exposure to multiple locations nationwide. The role requires pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business or marketing, completing junior year, and proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing.
• Must have completed their junior year.
• Preferred GPA at least 2.7.
• Proficient with PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Able to work in a team and assist teammates daily.
• Strong attention to detail and multitasking ability.
• Good data entry accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer inquiries and emails promptly and professionally.
• Assist Inside Sales with order entry, quotes, and admin tasks.
• Provide support by addressing product availability, delivery status, and customer concerns.
• Maintain pricing and freight data for accuracy.

What Are My Responsibilities as a Sales Intern at Steel Dynamics Structural & Rail Division?

• Manage a variety of customer service functions, including responding to customer inquiries and emails in a timely and professional manner.
• Support Inside Sales Representatives by assisting with order entry, quote preparation, and sales‑related administrative tasks.
• Provide exceptional customer support by addressing product availability inquiries, delivery status questions, and troubleshooting customer concerns.
• Maintain and update pricing information and freight equalization data to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare, analyze, and distribute reports to support sales operations and business decision-making.

What Qualifications Do I Need?

• Candidate should be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in a business or marketing related major
• Must have completed their junior year
• Preferred GPA at least 2.7
• Must be highly proficient with PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Must be able to work in a team environment and willing to help teammates daily
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Strong data entry skills, accuracy is a must.
• Priorities frequently change, requiring great flexibility
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees and management
