Job Overview

The Sales Floor Department Supervisor is responsible for leading and enabling a team of associates to deliver an excellent customer experience. This includes coaching, training, delegating tasks, managing performance, and ensuring department coverage. The role involves customer-facing activities (e.g., greeting, needs clarification, closing sales), non-customer activities (e.g., stocking, inventory management), and store safety (e.g., safety walks, hazard reporting).

Key Responsibilities

• Providing resources and tools to support customer service teams.
• Assisting with stocking, area recovery, and merchandising input.
• Monitoring the use of store power equipment and coaching on safety and lifting techniques.
• Supervising associates across departments as needed, with broad product knowledge.
• Communicating store approaches and behaviors that meet sales and service goals.
• Occasionally opening or closing the store or serving as manager-on-duty.

Travel Requirements

This role does not require regular travel but may occasionally involve travel for meetings, training, or supporting other stores.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

• Full-time, hourly position, 39-40 hours/week, with flexibility for mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring prolonged standing, sitting, and lifting (minimum 25 pounds).

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent + 3 years retail experience OR 5 years retail experience.
• At least 1 year in customer service.
• Experience supporting Pro customers (preferred for Pro Department Supervisors).
• Experience supervising or guiding teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to obtain necessary sales-related licenses or registrations.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years retail customer service experience.
• 3+ years supporting Pro customers.
• Leadership experience with direct reports.
• Experience in home improvement retail and fast-paced environments.
• Experience with store computer systems (e.g., Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling).
