Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of industry experience is required.
• Minimum 2 years of multiline commercial underwriting experience with underwriting authority is required; 3+ years preferred.
• Relevant insurance industry certifications (CIC or CPCU) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite: analyze risks, price, negotiate, and make informed decisions on commercial business.
• Market: sell and solicit business across all units within the territory to build strong agency relationships.
• Develop the territory: drive enterprise growth and profitability within territory, including new agency appointments.
• Lead agencies: build deep relationships with assigned agencies and deliver a profitable portfolio.
• Provide leadership: collaborate with other field teams to ensure success through support and coordination.
• Research the market: stay updated on industry trends and competitor activity to inform decisions.

With a commitment to excellence and building strong agency relationships, our Sales and Marketing department is looking for a property and casualty field territory underwriter. As a field-based underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating, assessing, and pricing risks while leading profitable growth for our agency partners in your territory. This position is for our Traverse City, Michigan, territory. Positions serving territories away from our headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio are fully remote. The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $152,000 annually. Our competitive compensation package is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
