Job summary

Milwaukee Succeeds in Wisconsin is seeking a Sales Engineer - Cost Estimator to evaluate new machining opportunities, develop accurate customer quotations, and support growth. You will review prints and CAD models, evaluate feasibility, and perform cycle time calculations to build detailed cost estimates for labor, tooling, and materials.

Responsibilities include preparing quotations, collaborating with suppliers, and supporting sales presentations while exploring new technologies and process

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years in manufacturing, engineering, machining, estimating, or quoting.
• Experience with CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or Pro/Engineer.
• Strong ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.

• Review customer prints, CAD models, specs, and production requirements.
• Evaluate feasibility and select optimal machining processes.
• Perform cycle time calculations and time studies.
• Develop cost estimates covering labor, machine time, tooling, and materials.

Are you a machining expert who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges and developing competitive cost models for new business opportunities? Our client is seeking a Sales Engineer - Cost Estimation to play a critical role in evaluating new machining opportunities, developing accurate customer quotations, and supporting business growth. This position offers the opportunity to leverage your technical manufacturing knowledge while working closely with sales, engineering, operations, suppliers, and customers.

Responsibilities:

• Review customer prints, CAD models, specifications, and production requirements
• Evaluate manufacturing feasibility and determine optimal machining processes
• Perform cycle time calculations and manufacturing time studies
• Develop detailed cost estimates covering labor, machine time, tooling, fixtures, gauging, materials, freight, packaging, and outside services
• Collaborate with suppliers to obtain pricing for materials, tooling, equipment, and subcontracted processes
• Prepare and review customer quotations for accuracy and profitability
• Research new manufacturing technologies and process improvements
• Support sales presentations, business case development, customer interactions, and plant tours

Requirements:

• Previous machining experience
• Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills
• Advanced GD&T knowledge
• Experience with manufacturing cost estimating and quotation development
• Understanding of machining processes, tooling, cycle times, and production costing
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, engineering teams, and leadership

Preferred Background:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field
• 8+ years of manufacturing, engineering, machining, estimating, or quoting experience
• Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, Pro/Engineer, or similar CAD platforms
• Background supporting new business development and manufacturing quotations
