Job summary

The Sales Engineer – Consultant Specialist promotes Delta Intelligent Building Technologies and the Delta Partnership to the mechanical/electrical/architectural consulting community. Acting as a trusted advisor, the Sales Engineer is responsible for getting targeted offerings into specifications at major consulting firms.

  • Full-time, remote

Location

  • Proximity to a major airport is necessary.
  • Preferred location is the Western part of the United States - California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon preferred.

Travel

  • Frequent travel will be required, approximately 30% to 40%.

Duties and responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Develop specifications for use by consulting engineers.
  • Generate new business by promoting Delta Intelligent Building Technologies brand awareness in the consulting community.
  • Develop major consulting relationships through direct presentations, lunch and learns, specification assistance and sales support for consultants.
  • Get Delta Intelligent Building Technologies in as many specifications as possible.
  • Participate in major sales presentations to key stakeholder groups- can be in the presence of a Delta Partner or not. May involve joint target selling with Delta Partners or Delta Group Business Units.
  • Represent Delta in national or targeted market trade shows.
  • May review and evaluate client specifications and coordinate in-house resources to satisfy client needs.
  • Review system layout and system applications during the sales process.
  • Regularly communicate with the management team regarding opportunities in play, forecasts and current sales progress using our CRM system and sales reporting tools.

Performance measures

  • Number of Lunch and Learn sessions conducted.
  • Number of specifications listing Delta Intelligent Building Technologies as an approved system.
  • Number of new specifications written for consultants.

Required skills and abilities

  • Proven track record in delivering agreed upon sales objectives.
  • Professional selling skills.
  • Proven consultative selling skills.
  • Ability to communicate with and influence consultants and owner representatives.

Preferred skills and abilities

  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Familiarity with AIA (American Institute of Architects).

Minimum qualifications and experience

  • A minimum of ten years industry specific experience.
  • Previous experience in the plan and specification market.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent education, training, and/or experience.
