Job description

The purpose of this position is to promote the sale of custom electronic control systems to equipment manufacturers or system integrators.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Utilize consultative sales strategies to identify MT as a solutions company for customers.
  • Evaluate customer needs and present respective solutions to them in line with MT business functions/capabilities and applicable timelines while following approved processes and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of focus on potential/designated/existing accounts regarding follow up, tracking and reporting as applicable.
  • Promote Micro-Trak Systems to original equipment manufacturers and system integrators in line with the support of MT distributors. Dealer accounts may need periodic support but should generally defer to their distributor sources.
  • Prepare and distribute applicable product documents for resale support regarding recommended features and functionality.
  • Educate resellers in all facets of the sales and service cycle to actively promote, demo, install and troubleshoot MT products to end users.
  • Assist and support reseller efforts in the territory in person with trade shows, open houses, field days, training seminars, etc. as schedules allow.
  • Generate and compile sales leads from all sources and distribute to respective OEM, distributor accounts as applicable for follow-up if not a source for personal follow-up.
  • Sales growth through current/prospective/new OEM and distributor accounts with sales of off-the-shelf, customized, private-labeled and derivative products while following approved processes and procedures.
  • Work with customers to define proposed projects in advance of them being undertaken followed up by submission of applicable ROI and or related business documentation to support forward direction to respective internal MT contacts.
  • Communicate with existing/potential new accounts on submission of proposals for quoting utilizing established protocols, respective designated staffing channels, applicable non-recurring engineering charges as well as respective timelines following appropriate department channels.
  • Handle respective customization activities/communicating as needed with the customer directly.
  • Assist with the design of product training and sales aids for new/custom products.
  • Support company and customer on new product launches.
  • Assist with training of Micro-Trak Systems to other sales representatives and service personnel.
  • Work with peer group members to present customer demonstrations and train on respective product lines/applications.
  • Work with other departments on data tracking and projects vs. supporting directly as applicable wherever possible to allow focus on direct sales activities.
  • Propose new features and custom products for development to Micro-Trak Systems in line with company existing product lines/in-process/future line directions.
  • Gain new market opportunities via prospecting the internet, trade shows, referrals, competitors, etc., in turn tracking and reporting on these details respectively to designated internal MT staff in the agreed format (scheduled written reports) and or via an approved software platform (CRM).
  • Maintain an understanding of the competition’s activities in the territory to assess opportunities for additional business development.
  • Attend relevant industry events and conferences to build business.
  • Work closely with the engineering & the service departments to provide quality customer support.
  • Regularly track sales activities in assigned territory by month to compare actuals to forecasted plan to identify any areas of concerns and opportunities. Annually compile data throughout the course of each given year to assist yourself in accurate annual forecasting as per industry trends, customer changes, etc…
  • Work outside and in addition to normal weekly hours may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electronic, mechanical or agriculture related program or 3 years of practical hands on experience regarding related business-to-business sales techniques/applications.
  • 3+ years of experience in Agricultural Manufacturing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Technical aptitude and experience with tools and modern farm machinery
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

This job operates in a professional office environment and a manufacturing setting. This role routinely utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and calculators. While on the floor, you may be subject to loud noises.

Physical Demands:

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
