AMT is looking for a Sales Engineer who can combine technical knowledge with strong sales and customer relationship skills. This position is a good fit for someone who understands manufacturing or industrial automation, enjoys solving customer problems, and is comfortable managing opportunities from the initial conversation through the final proposal and sale.

AMT has designed and built production automation systems since 1970. Our capabilities include robotic solutions, automated assembly systems, rotary and linear automation, winding and pressing equipment, SCADA services, and custom-engineered equipment. We have particular expertise in equipment for electric motor manufacturing.
Job Description
- Prospect and meet with customers to understand their manufacturing processes, production challenges, and automation needs.
- Work with AMT’s engineering and project teams to develop practical, technically feasible solutions.
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and supporting technical documentation.
- Present concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical decision-makers.
- Manage customer opportunities from initial inquiry through follow-up and order placement.
- Build relationships with new and existing customers and provide technical support throughout the sales process.
- Use ZoomInfo to research companies, identify contacts, and develop new sales opportunities.
- Maintain accurate customer, activity, and pipeline information in Salesforce/HubSpot.
- Travel to customer facilities, trade shows, and industry events as needed.
Job Experiance
- Experience in technical sales, sales engineering, applications engineering, account management, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
- A background in mechanical, electrical, automation, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of industrial automation, robotic systems, controls, assembly equipment, or manufacturing processes.
- The ability to understand technical requirements and turn them into clear, practical proposals.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to manage multiple customers, opportunities, and priorities.
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce and/or HubSpot, including contact management, activity tracking, opportunity management, and pipeline reporting.
- Experience using ZoomInfo for prospecting, account research, and lead generation.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- The ability to work on-site in Fort Wayne and travel to customer locations as needed.
A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred, although equivalent technical and industry experience will be considered. Experience with custom automation, capital equipment and electric motor manufacturing is a plus.
