Sales Engineer – Aerospace Manufacturing
Job Summary
We are seeking a Sales Engineer to support business development and customer engagement within the aircraft and aerospace manufacturing industry. This role combines technical knowledge with a customer-focused sales approach, working directly with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to understand customer requirements and develop solutions that align with their technical and production needs.
The ideal candidate will have an engineering background and/or experience in technical sales within an engineering or manufacturing environment. This position is 100% onsite and requires approximately 20% local and domestic travel to customer locations, industry events, and other business meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers throughout the aircraft, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing industries.
- Identify new business opportunities and support the development of new and existing accounts.
- Serve as a technical point of contact throughout the sales process, helping translate customer requirements into viable manufacturing solutions.
- Work directly with customer engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and program teams.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, RFQs, and customer requirements to understand project scope and opportunities.
- Partner with internal engineering, manufacturing, estimating, and operations teams to develop proposals and technical solutions.
- Present company capabilities, manufacturing processes, and technical solutions to prospective and existing customers.
- Support quoting, proposal development, contract discussions, and follow-up throughout the sales cycle.
- Maintain visibility into customer programs, upcoming requirements, and future business opportunities.
- Attend customer meetings, facility visits, trade shows, and industry events as needed.
- Travel approximately 20% locally and domestically.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Engineering experience and/or technical sales experience within an engineering, aerospace, aircraft, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to understand manufacturing processes and customer engineering requirements.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable interacting with both technical engineering teams and business/procurement stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with the ability to identify opportunities and manage customer relationships throughout a technical sales cycle.
- Experience within aircraft, aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, or related industries is highly preferred.
