Clera is building AI agents that help startups hire and talented people find their next role. We combine technology with hands‑on recruiting support to connect companies with candidates who fit what they need. Our work spans finding candidates, starting conversations, assessing fit, and coordinating introductions.
We work with startups including Mintlify, Luminai, and Windsurf. Our goal is to make recruiting more useful for both sides: companies meet relevant people, and candidates get introduced to opportunities worth considering.
We're hiring a Sales Development Representative in Salt Lake City to bring more companies to Clera. You'll work closely with our founders and help turn outbound conversations into new client relationships.
We're based in San Francisco and bringing the team to Salt Lake City to meet and onboard everyone in person. After onboarding the role is hybrid in Salt Lake City. Visits to our HQ in San Francisco to meet the team and other startups in the Bay are optional.
Introduce Clera's recruiting services to founders and hiring leaders through consistent, high-volume outbound sales. Start conversations, understand whether a company needs help hiring, and book qualified meetings for our founders or sales team.
Most of your day will be spent making calls, sending emails and LinkedIn messages, and following up with prospects. You'll use prospect lists, outreach sequences, and AI tools to work efficiently. Research should give you enough context for a useful conversation, not take up the time you could spend having one.
This is a client acquisition role, not a candidate recruiting position. It's a good fit for someone who enjoys speaking with new people, can maintain a steady pace of outreach, and wants to get better at sales through regular practice and feedback.
Experience in an SDR or BDR role, appointment setting, recruiting sales, inside sales, or another high-volume customer-facing role would be useful. Familiarity with CRMs, sales dialers, and outreach sequences is a plus.
You don't need a particular degree or a long list of sales jobs to apply. Evidence that you can communicate, follow through, and learn quickly matters more. Candidates starting their sales career are welcome.
Door-to-door, summer sales, retail, restaurant and call-center jobs all count, and so does playing competitive sports. If you've had to win people over, it's relevant.
You build a reliable routine of high-volume outreach and turn it into conversations with relevant companies. Interested prospects receive timely follow-up, booked meetings take place, and the team has the context it needs to turn those meetings into sales opportunities.
We'll assess your work through outreach consistency, conversations started, qualified meetings held, and the opportunities those meetings generate. Both activity and results matter, along with how your effectiveness improves over time.
Learn directly from the founders. Work close to the people building and selling the business. You'll hear how prospects respond, see what happens after a meeting is booked, and understand how your work contributes to winning a customer.
Build practical sales skills. Develop cold calling, objection handling, qualification, and follow-up skills through real conversations. Learn to use AI tools as part of an everyday sales workflow.
Help shape how we sell. You'll be expected to execute, but your observations will also matter. An opening line that works, a recurring objection, or an overlooked customer need can change the team's approach.
