Job description

memoryBlue has partnered with TrueRoll to find their next Sales Development Rep

Location: East Coast, U.S. (Florida–Virginia preferred; Florida to Maine considered) | Remote

Comp: $60-70K base / 70-30 pay mix / ~$90k-$100K OTE

The pitch

Property taxes touch every homeowner in America, and the offices that manage them are still buried in paper, spreadsheets, and manual reviews. TrueRoll fixes that, and they've brought memoryBlue in to help build out their SDR bench as they scale.

This is a rare kind of opening: a proven company, a leader who's already done this exact build once before, and a niche (govtech/SLED sales) that most reps never get the chance to specialize in early.

Who you'd be working for

TrueRoll recently brought on Brennan Middleton as Chief Revenue Officer, and he's not new to this game. Brennan spent over a decade leading go-to-market for state and local government technology, most recently as VP of Growth at Neumo (formerly Avenu Insights), where he helped drive strategy for a platform serving 4,500+ government customers across all 50 states.

He's building TrueRoll's revenue org from the ground up, which means an SDR joining now isn't one of a hundred reps lost in a call queue. You're getting direct reps with a leader who's actually scaled a GovTech go-to-market motion before, at a company that's already planning to grow this seat 2-3x over the next 12-18 months. Early here means real runway.

Why the niche matters

SLED and GovTech prospecting is a specialized skill that most SDRs never touch, longer buying cycles, procurement processes, and a totally different set of stakeholders than the average tech sale. Reps who learn to navigate that early become genuinely hard to replace, and it opens doors most of your peers won't have. TrueRoll isn't a side gig into this space, it's their entire world.

Why TrueRoll

They're not a startup guessing at a problem. They're already the industry standard for homestead administration, and the numbers back it up:

  • 150+ county assessment offices as clients, from counties under 10,000 residents to those with over a million
  • 10M+ parcels monitored nationwide
  • $1B+ in assessed value added back to tax rolls (that's real money going to schools, roads, and public services)
  • 175K+ ineligible exemptions identified and removed
  • 80% faster exemption review times for the staff who use their platform
  • 6-time GovTech 100 honoree (2021-2026) for companies making a real difference in government
  • Recognized on the Inc. 5000 as one of America's fastest-growing private companies

TrueRoll was built by former assessors and public servants who lived the problem themselves, which is why the platform plugs into existing CAMA systems instead of asking counties to rip and replace. Their mantra: staff deserve tools that match their effort, and equity starts with accurate data.

What you'll do
  • Prospect and open conversations with county assessor, treasury, and tax departments across the country
  • Qualify inbound and outbound opportunities and set meetings for the sales team
  • Learn the ins and outs of government buying cycles (a real, transferable skill that'll make you dangerous in any GovTech role after this)
  • Represent a product that genuinely makes public servants' jobs easier, which makes the "no" calls hurt a lot less
What we're looking for
  • A proven SDR who can hit the ground running. This isn't a seat for someone learning the fundamentals on the job
  • Bonus points for SLED (state, local, education) or GovTech prospecting experience
  • Even more bonus points if you've got exposure to county or assessor's office buying cycles
  • Someone who wants to build a long-term career in the public-sector sales space, not just pass through it
