Position Overview: As a Sales Compensation Manager, you will work with accounting and sales leadership and be responsible for managing and executing the calculation, auditing, and optimization of producer compensation across the organization. This will include delivering actionable reporting and insights to senior leadership and company stakeholders, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and the transparency of commission payments. You will accomplish these objectives through collaborative efforts with accounting, sales operations, regional leadership, human resources, and sales team members. This position will report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer.

Work location and arrangement: This position is a full time, fully remote position with a strong preference for qualified candidates who reside in either the Eastern or Central U.S. time zones.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Manage accurate calculation of complex producer commissions, including commissions, new business incentives, and split deals across various lines of business
  • Design and implement scalable, streamlined workflows for the end-to-end commission process, including data inputs, calculation logic, approvals, and payouts
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to support clean audits and mitigate risks related to compensation errors or overpayments
  • Audit compensation data and calculations regularly to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to internal policies and contractual obligations
  • Resolve commission discrepancies and inquiries promptly, working closely with Finance, Sales, and HR teams
  • Generate and distribute timely and accurate compensation reports to key stakeholders, including Sales Leadership, Finance, HR, and Executive teams
  • Evaluate and improve existing compensation tools and systems (e.g., Excel models, CRM, commission software) to enhance automation, reduce manual errors, and support scalability
  • Collaborate with technology teams to support integration with accounting and CRM platforms
  • Maintain clear documentation into compensation rules, methodologies, and exceptions
  • Assist in the design and rollout of system enhancements and compensation plan changes
  • Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality with sensitive company information
  • Provide regular dashboards and ad hoc reporting to support business performance analysis, forecasting, and strategic decision-making

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in finance or accounting in the insurance industry
  • Prior experience with commissions calculation, commissions auditing, and compensation operations
  • Working knowledge of accounting software and insurance agency management system (AMS) software (with a preference for Business Central, Applied EPIC and BenefitPoint)
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite tools, particularly Excel and CRM systems
  • Ability to manipulate a high volume of data through use of Excel filtering, pivots, formula, etc.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships both internally and externally
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving, and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel to other office locations when needed (minimal)
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future

Compensation Range: A starting base salary in the $100,000 - $130,000 range, depending on the candidate’s experience. This position is also eligible for additional incentive compensation that is performance based.

*A wide salary range is posted for this position, and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the required state pay transparency law. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
