Nidec Drives is seeking a Manager, Business Development to lead cross-functional teams in driving revenue growth, market expansion, and strategic partnerships across products and markets. You will manage BD professionals, translate growth strategies into executable plans, and collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance, and Leadership to align opportunities with the company’s commercial strategy and operational capabilities.

Strong leadership and negotiation skills are essential.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or related field required.
  • Prior business development, sales, strategy, or commercial roles experience preferred.
  • Experience in people management is a plus.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead and develop Business Development Managers, Specialists, or Analysts.
  • Translate growth strategy into actionable plans and manage the pipeline.
  • Identify and prioritize new markets, customers, and partnerships.
  • Negotiate high-value opportunities and support deal structuring with leadership.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance, and Operations.
  • Define KPIs and continuously improve BD processes and governance.

The Manager, Business Development is a mid-level management role responsible for leading business development activities and teams to drive revenue growth, market expansion, and strategic partnerships. This role manages business development professionals and/or major initiatives, identifies new growth opportunities, and translates strategy into executable plans. The Manager, Business Development has a direct impact on top‑line growth, market positioning, and long‑term business strategy.

Role Overview

The Manager, Business Development leads efforts to identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities across products, markets, customers, or partnerships. The role balances people leadership, opportunity management, and strategic planning while partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance, and Executive Leadership. This position ensures alignment between business development initiatives, commercial strategy, and operational capabilities and serves as an escalation point for complex negotiations or strategic decisions. The role typically reports to a Director of Business Development, Sales Director, Commercial Leader, or Vice President of Growth/Strategy, depending on organizational structure.

Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop Business Development Managers, Specialists, or Analysts
  • Set clear performance expectations tied to growth objectives and pipeline targets
  • Conduct performance reviews, feedback, and development planning
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and capability development
Business Development Strategy & Execution
  • Translate company growth strategy into actionable business development plans
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new market, customer, and partnership opportunities
  • Manage the opportunity pipeline from identification through qualification and hand‑off
  • Ensure disciplined tracking of leads, opportunities, and outcomes
Market & Opportunity Analysis
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, competitive landscape, and growth potential
  • Build business cases for new products, markets, or partnerships
  • Evaluate financial, operational, and strategic implications of opportunities
  • Present recommendations and insights to senior leadership
Partnerships, Negotiation & Deal Support
  • Lead or support development of strategic partnerships, alliances, or joint ventures
  • Participate in contract discussions, pricing strategy, and deal structuring
  • Serve as escalation point for complex negotiations or high‑value opportunities
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and Operations to ensure deal viability and compliance
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales to align opportunity development with commercial execution
  • Partner with Marketing on value propositions, messaging, and go‑to‑market strategies
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, or Operations to assess feasibility and scalability
  • Ensure smooth transition of qualified opportunities into execution teams
Performance Tracking & Continuous Improvement
  • Define and monitor KPIs related to pipeline health, conversion, and growth outcomes
  • Review performance trends and adjust strategies as needed
  • Improve business development processes, tools, and governance
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across teams
Scope & Impact

Manages a team or portfolio of business development initiatives Impact is at the functional or multi‑market level Decisions influence revenue growth, market expansion, and strategic positioning Poor opportunity selection or execution may result in missed growth or financial risk.

Qualifications
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or related field required Previous experience in business development, sales, strategy, or commercial roles required Prior people‑management experience preferred

Strong understanding of sales cycles, market analysis, and growth strategy Proven people‑leadership and performance‑management skills Ability to evaluate opportunities from strategic, financial, and operational perspectives Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder‑management skills Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills Ability to manage ambiguity and drive results in growth‑oriented environments

Typically has a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional certification and 5 years of prior relevant experience
