Job summary

Turner’s Outdoorsman is seeking a temp-to-hire Sales Audit Clerk to support the Sales Audit and Accounting teams in Rialto, CA. The role focuses on ensuring accuracy of daily sales and financial transactions across stores, auditing activity, reconciling data, and assisting with month-end close.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, including occasional travel for in-store training.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience cashiering and bookkeeping/auditing or education equivalent.
• Knowledge of register procedures and paperwork flow.
• Accounting background a plus.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Understanding of MS Word and MS Excel.
• Must be flexible with a positive attitude.
• Must be people-oriented and eager to assume additional responsibilities.
• Ability to work under deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, listening and seeking clarification while responding well to questions from individuals at all levels.
• Must be detail-oriented and organized.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Sales Audit Manager and the Accounting Manager.
• Check Shift4 each morning to verify that the batches for each store were closed the night before.
• Run daily transaction summaries each day, make tender corrections, research overs and shorts from Daily Media Reports and coordinate corrections with stores.
• Audit Daily Summary Report packets for each store, verifying tender totals against banking statements.
• Verify payouts have proper documentation and are categorized correctly.
• Report tender, payout, and return discrepancies to Loss Prevention and District Managers.
• Review tenders for accuracy (Coupon, Gift Certificate, Gift Card Redeemed, Promo Voucher).
• Assist Administrative Assistant with credit memos and donations paperwork.
• Research and adjust or clear overdrawn gift cards; update database when cleared.
• Ensure stores enter closing cash timely; run weekly register summaries; update scorecard.
• Contact stores for corrections and follow up on adjustments.
• Assist in corrective training with cashiers and bookkeepers.
• Occasional travel to train in-store.
• Return phone calls and e-mails promptly.
• Perform non-essential tasks and projects as required.
