Carnegie Museums - The Andy Warhol Museum, 117 Sandusky Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States of America

The Warhol is one of the four Carnegie Museums, a collaborative project between Carnegie Institute, Dia Art Foundation, and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. Plans to house The Warhol in Pittsburgh were announced in 1989, and the museum opened during a 24-hour celebration on May 13, 1994. Originally built in 1911 as a distribution center for products sold to mills and mines, The Warhol was redesigned by architect Richard Gluckman and features seven floors of gallery and exhibition space, including an underground level that houses The Factory education studio and the conservation lab. Carnegie Museums seeks candidates who, through their experience and collaborations, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of our community.

This is a temporary assignment expected to run from May 2025 through August 2025.

The Sales Associate

Responsible for tasks related to receiving, checking, displaying, and selling merchandise in The Carnegie Museum Stores.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• Prefer previous sales work experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent verbal communication and customer relation skills; computer experience recommended.
• Physical stamina.
• Mental and emotional stability to handle a busy retail environment.
• Knowledge and appreciation of art, natural history, and/or science preferred.
• Ability to work in various locations and conditions, including use of Point of Sale terminals, calculators, charge card imprinters, telephones, and dollies for transporting merchandise.

Physical Requirements:

• Walking and standing for long periods, lifting up to 30 lbs., climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, and working in tight spaces.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Assist customers with merchandise selection, verification, and payment processing.
• Wrap or bag merchandise.
• Help customers make selections and provide product information.
• Maintain knowledge of merchandise and store exhibits.
• Answer questions, take messages, and provide directions.
• Restock and organize merchandise, including unpacking deliveries and making minor repairs.
• Participate in inventory counts and manage stock levels.
• Operate cash registers and prepare deposits.
• Uphold a professional and courteous demeanor, representing The Carnegie Museums positively.

The following PA Act 153 clearances are required upon employment: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Obtaining these clearances is part of the hiring process.
