Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a friendly retail team member to be the face of our store, deliver professional customer service, and help customers find items they love.

You will operate the cash register, stock shelves, keep displays neat, and collaborate with a team to meet daily sales goals while supporting the community we serve.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner.
• Rings items accurately on the register and handles transactions.
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer questions promptly.
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and assists customers with selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance.
• Maintains register area and adheres to store security procedures.
• Performs housekeeping duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer’s questions courteously and promptly
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain an orderly and clean register area
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary
• Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms)
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of six months of previous work experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working in a retail environment
• Excellent customer service related skills
• Working knowledge of a cash register
• Multilingual with complete fluency in English
